UPCOMING SHOW PLEASURE STRUCTURES, CONTEMPORARY LIFESTYLES at c3 CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE IN ABBOTTSFORDFEBRUARY”Pleasure Structures, Contemporary Lifestyles is a formalized milieu of cultural tropes and materials which emulate concepts of pleasure, athleticism, luxury and relaxation. Consisting of both readymade and handmade objects, Pleasure Structures… observes the cultural transmutation of said objects and how they engage in a dialogue of past history and classical aesthetics with today’s ideals and morale. By presenting an exhaustive orchestra of precarious materials, textiles and sensual objects, Pleasure Structures… investigates the formal divide, tension and precarious nature of pleasure-centric objects which occupy and pervade the spaces our own offices, homes, beauty salons, relaxation Meccas.. Entirely leisurely, the objects are rendered ambivalent in their purpose and functionality thus contemplating the gentrification of effortless lifestyle.
